Everything on track

In track superstructure, MTE milling machines impress with their high cutting performance and precision, even with extremely heavy components. The ideal solution for this industry.

Rheinbahn Düsseldorf AG recently put our FBF-S 10.000 traveling column milling machine into operation. It is used to carry out high-precision wear repairs on all common rail types such as broadhead and grooved rails. MTE milling machines have been in service at Riecken Maschinenbau GmbH for more than 25 years. There, too, the focus is on track superstructures: Riecken manufactures switch setting devices, tie rods and fishplates, track locks, protective boxes and devices for track drainage, among other things. Some of the components weigh up to 10 tons.

17 MTE machines in 25 years

Since 1997, the family business from Bramsche in Lower Saxony has already purchased 17 of our machines. The collaboration began with an MTE Bed type milling machine, and most recently we installed an SB-M 8000 rigid bed milling machine with travel paths of 6,500 mm in the X direction, 2,000 mm in the Y direction and 1,500 mm in the Z direction.

The SB-M 8000 combines the advantages of a classic Bed type milling machine / machines with those of a traveling column milling machine. For heavy-duty machining at Riecken Maschinenbau, we were thus able to achieve an optimal combination: higher milling performance and between 10 and 15 % shorter machining time with the same tool and program. Another advantage: The SB-M 8000 is the first MTE machine to have an inline motor located directly behind the Milling head / heads. This enables us to achieve an optimized torque curve and less vibration on the chip.

Highlight Service

What we are really proud of: Riecken Maschinenbau currently has a total of seven MTE milling machines in operation. This is also due to the well-known good price-performance ratio of our machines. But there is also the service factor. Riecken appreciates the reliability of our service department, the excellent spare parts supply, the Milling head workshop and the Sparehead service, all centrally located here at the Montabaur site. Praise that we gladly accept. Text: Wolfgang Gnoss
