MTE: Nothing less than a German-Spanish success story

Did you know that MTE has its roots in Spain? More precisely, in the Basque Country, which is known throughout the world for its tradition in mechanical engineering. MTE has been represented in Germany since 1993 and since 2008 with MTE Deutschland GmbH. From today's perspective, this was the most important starting point for MTE's success story in Germany.

Perfect service has been the focus from the very beginning

Our initial goal was to offer all existing customers in Germany a genuine service home. Holger Illner was and remains a key figure in this regard as service manager. He joined the company in 2008 with many years of experience in servicing large milling machines. Initially, we worked with external service providers. However, we then built up our own team of service technicians, which continues to grow and now guarantees our first-class service quality.

Not just technologically connected, but also connected as a family

MTE Deutschland GmbH was founded by Judith Ajubita, a graduate mechanical engineer. She has been responsible for the structural development of the branch since the very beginning. It was not entirely by chance that she came up with the idea of founding MTE Deutschland 13 years ago to improve service quality and spare parts supply. Judith Ajubita is the daughter of the founder of MTE s.a. in Spain. She has therefore been familiar with the milling machine market and its peculiarities for longer than MTE GmbH has existed in Germany. And it was clear to her from the outset that it had to be about more than just service; close cooperation with the production facility in the Basque Country was also essential. Because both are interlinked today, we can tailor our machines perfectly to the needs of our customers.

Dual leadership as a catalyst for success

In 2012, Judith Ajubita's husband, Gunther Borbonus, also joined MTE. This set the course for the next stage of expansion in Germany and Spain. Borbonus had previously worked for many years in a responsible position at a market competitor. He joined us with the aim of further improving the quality of the machines and service support and expanding market share.

The new MTE customer centre in Montabaur

More service and better customer support – to achieve this, we opened our current customer and service centre in Montabaur in 2014. Since then, we have consistently expanded our service departments here with our own qualified technicians in the office and in the field, as well as our own spare parts warehouse. Our customers will also find our project management and MTE sales departments here. Effective QM systems were introduced in Spain and Germany in close cooperation. This enabled us to standardise and optimise our processes and product series.

Design freedom for the German market

Over the years, however, we have not only continuously improved our service quality and spare parts supply. We have also expanded our product range by five entire series. As well as numerous options and innovations. Today, we are proud that with our design in Spain and sales in Germany, we can quickly and effectively meet all the requirements of the German market. This cooperation offers enormous design freedom and enables us to respond to a wide range of special requests without having to build expensive special machines. It is therefore no surprise that our market share in Germany has increased by over 20 percent since 2008.

Whether bed type milling machines, fixed table travelling column milling machines or travelling column milling machines, we know our stuff!
